Cameron Highlands Day Tour Itinerary
During day tour to Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur, we will travel using two type different road. The first 145km using a North South Highway. The second stage about 60km to Tanah Rata Town we use the old road. Even thought the road quiet winding, we prefer to use this road because the nature scenery. Make sure you don’t take too much breakfast otherwise I need to make lots of stops.
Our first stop during Cameron Highlands day trip is Lata Iskandar water falls. Standing about 70 meter from the street level. Lata Iskandar water falls is the biggest and highest water fall in Cameron Highlands. At surrounding Lata Iskandar water fall also places for local people selling some traditional medicine. Tourist has an opportunity to learn about traditional herbal roots such the famous Eurycoma Longfolia and Labisia Pumila. The herbs have been use by local people for generation to increase man and woman general healthy. During the fruit season, (July – October) tourist have the opportunity to try seasonal tropical fruit such Mangosteen, Durian, Langsat and Petai (Parkia Speciosa).
The main attraction in Cameron Highlands is Tea Plantations. During the Cameron Highlands tour we visit two Tea Plantation. Both Bharat and Boh Tea Plantation has its own attractions. Even both Tea Plantation using a same species of Tea but its has different Tea taste influenced by height and soil. The first Tea Plantation we visit is the Bharat Tea. Bharat Tea Plantation has been established since 1933, by Mr. Shuparshad with initial area covering 50 acres bought from British Government. Currently the Bharat Tea Plantation is still managed by Shuparshad family.
Your Cameron Highlands day tour is incomplete if not visiting Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation and factory. Established by J.A Russel in 1929, Sungai Palas Boh Tea plantation is the largest Tea Plantation in Malaysia covering about 123 hectare of sloped terrain. Boh Tea Plantation own three Tea Plantation, Habu, Fairlie Tea Garden and Sungai Palas Tea Garden. Besides the amazing view of Tea Plantation, the Boh Tea Factory is open for public to see the process of making Tea from rolling to sorting the Tea Leaf. In Boh Tea plantation, tourist will allow to stay a bit longer to enjoy the Tea Plantation scenery and a fresh Tea.
Cameron Highlands day tour from Kuala Lumpur also covering visiting Berichang Mountain and Mossy Forest. Situated within Perak and Pahang state border, Berichang mountain is the second highest point in Cameron Highlands. From the observation deck situated at Berichang Mountain, tourist able to enjoy the breathtaking view of Titiwangsa Range. After visited Berinchang Mountain we stop at Mossy Forest. Rose Valley the house of hundreds of flowers especially the Roses. Due of moderate weather in Cameron Highlands, most of the flowers here is bigger and more luxuriant than in Kuala Lumpur even from same species. Rose Valley has been established since 1994, covering the area about 5 acres and currently home for more than 450 type of Roses. Rose Valley is a private park, managed by the second generation of Mr. Chan family.
Another attraction in Cameron Highlands run by second generation family is Butterflies Park. Established in 1986, besides Butterflies the Park also have a few types of Snake, Reptile and Insect that usually can be found in the forest around the Cameron Highlands. Currently Cameron Highlands Butterflies farm have about 20 species of Butterflies such as Common Mime, Green Jay, Common Jay and from Species Rajah Brooke.
Various activities can be done during your day tour to Cameron Highlands. One of activity is pick your own Strawberry at the biggest Strawberry Farm. Strawberry become a second trademark for Cameron Highlands after Tea. All the Strawberry here is grown using hydroponic system and green house method to control the soil temperature and moisture level. Besides the fresh Strawberry, tourist also able to taste homemade Ice Cream, Cake, Jams and dried Strawberry.
Besides visiting nature oriented area, we also visiting the Time Tunnel. Time Tunnel is a private Museum located at Berinchang Town, Time Tunnel is a great place to learn about the history of Cameron Highlands and Malaysia in general. Most the collection of old photo in Time Tunnel is contributed by English officer who worked in Cameron Highlands during British rules Malaysia. Here, tourist will able to see how the town has been transformed from agriculture base product to the main tourist attractions. Besides that at Time Tunnel, tourist will able to see huge of collection Toy, Kitchen Tools and teaching tools used in year 60s and 70s.
Lunch will be served in restaurants that are available in Tanah Rata, only local food will be served. After lunch we heading back to Kuala Lumpur. On the way back we stop at the village of indigenous people for blow pipe demonstration. Senoi aboriginal people has a reputation the best jungle trekker in Peninsular Malaysia. British army engage indigenous to track communist forces during Malayan Emergency after the second world war. This activity only available during clear weather.
